Klippan Yllefabrik, the family-run Swedish company with a heritage in textile manufacturing dating back to 1879, applies its focus on natural, ethical materials to this timeless design. The Dogtooth throw perfectly merges Scandinavian quality with a globally recognised graphic pattern.

The pattern we call Dogtooth or Houndstooth has an exceptionally long and fascinating history, transitioning from a humble textile for shepherds to an emblem of high fashion and luxury.

Some of the earliest examples of this weave date back to the Bronze Age in Austria.

In more recent history, the pattern was widely recognized as a woven wool twill from the Scottish Lowlands in the century. It was originally worn by shepherds as a practical outer garment. It gained the name "Shepherd's Check" because, unlike the restrictive tartans of the Scottish clans, this pattern was unclaimed and could be worn by anyone, including non-clansmen, merchants, and traders.

The pattern remained relatively obscure until the 1930s, when it was adopted by the upper-class aristocracy. Its true transformation into a fashion statement began when the then-Prince of Wales, Edward VIII, began wearing Houndstooth suits for his casual attire.

Klippan's classic throws are made of 100% lambs wool. The definition of lambs wool is the first shearing of the sheep that is no older than six months.

The ecologic lambs wool is totally free of pesticides and no chemicals or antibiotics have been used during the breeding of the sheep.
